Trey Lackey

Apprentice Guide, Math Specialist


Trey was born and raised in Coweta County, Georgia, and attended East Coweta High School. After graduating, he attended the University of Georgia and acquired a BA and an MA in Linguistics. With an additional minor in Mathematics, he has worked to apply the study of diverse cultures and languages to education. In addition to mathematics tutoring, Trey has also been involved in organizations such as Mathcounts at UGA, which work to increase excitement and engagement with math studies and math competitions in both flourishing and under-resourced schools.

Trey has always felt that attention to diverse needs, goals, and histories is essential to helping learners reach their full potential in all subjects, including mathematics. He has constantly striven to incorporate knowledge of the diverse and complex needs of individual learners with mathematics education.

When not at work, Trey loves cooking, hiking, and exploring the outdoors.
